Despite technical issues meaning that I have no video update for you this week, I am loving the fact that the sun is out and shining and it is great to be running in slightly warmer climes, with less wind and the sea front is dazzlingly beautiful at this time of year… How I am loving training right now!

Ok, I am going to be running a hypnotherapy training course all next week, so there’ll be no blog entries here next week. When I return we’ll be into our taper and the marathons will be right upon us.

My miles this week, next and until I am back here are as follows:

Mon 19th Mar Cross Train

Tue 20th Mar 8M of 1M jog and strides, 12 x 2 mins up hill, jog back. Then 1M jog at end of session

Wed 21st Mar 7M (60 mins) slow

Thu 22nd Mar Cross Train

Fri 23rd Mar 22M (3hrs 18) slow

Sat 24th Mar Rest (Training course starts)

Sun 25th Mar Rest

Mon 26th Mar 6M of 1M jog, then 6 x 800m (or 3 mins) fast, with 100m (or 1-min) jog recoveries, then 1M jog

Tues 27th Mar 6M (54 mins) slow

Weds 28th Mar 8M (64 mins) steady

Thurs 29th Cross Train

Friday 30th 4M (36 mins) easy

Sat 31st Apr Cross Train

Sun 1st Apr Rest

Mon 2nd Apr 18M (approx 2hrs 35 mins) slow

I’ll be tapering after that little lot. Which I am looking forward to I must say. The last couple of weeks have been tough and my body is feeling the strain. That said, it feels good to have the miles in the bank and that I’ll be in the preparatory form going into the first marathon… Just got to make sure I am free of injury and illness for the final few weeks ahead.

As I do not run with a club due to odd working hours, I sometimes find it useful to really utilise the power of the internet for the comradeship that goes with being a part of the running community. I am a big twitter fan and I follow some great people who help encourage, support and inspire when it comes to running, my favourite runners on twitter are:

@RunAddicts – The twitter account of the professional blog dedicated to running.

@RunningQuotes – Quotes to keep you running. One of my favourites from last week was “My philosophy on running is, I don’t dwell on it, I do it” by Joan Benoit Samuelson. I rather liked that.

@JeffGalloway – Multi author, columnist, Olympian and much more besides. He tweets some great information, tactics, techniques and quotes relevant to all runners.

@HalHigdon – author of 35 books on running and Runners World contributor. Again, a lot of great stuff tweeted by him about running.

@runnersworlduk – Now not only do they provide a sense of community and bring runners together, but they have offers, news and lots of great reading outside of your magazine subscription. I am a subscriber and use the website a great deal as well as reading the magazine, but the RW tweets are great too.

@LondonMarathon – I suppose I follow the official London Marathon twitter account because I have run this race for so many years now. But again, they inspire by bringing runners with common goals together, they offer tips and articles and resources and keep you informed – it is in my opinion the worlds greatest running event.

They all contribute for some very useful motivation and information for me on a regular basis.

I’ll be back to offer up a self-hypnosis process as soon as I can before I am away for all of next week… But you know I’ll be running each evening after class….
